Getting dumped by a boy can be extremely painful, as your entire life gets turned upside-down in a moment. While it can be painful, it is not the end of the world. Indeed, a breakup can teach you a lot about yourself and ultimately make you stronger. However, the first thing you need to do is heal, which means distracting yourself, boosting your confidence and giving yourself time to get over the past.

Talk to family or close friends about how you feel and why you feel that way. This will help you get over the breakup because talking about feelings helps get them out of your system. Once you articulate a feeling, it doesn't feel as bad as when it is abstract and rattling around your brain.
2Accept your feelings. If you fight them and try to bury your sadness, pain and heartbreak, you will make them even worse. It's like building a dam out of sticks and mud. You can hold these feelings back temporarily, but they'll eventually break the dam and be far worse when they do.
3Focus on yourself. Your ex-boyfriend is not responsible for your happiness. By moping around, you're giving him power. So, make sure you spend time with people you like, engage in hobbies you enjoy and exercise regularly in order to boost your confidence.
4Make an effort to talk to and meet new people. Ask the guy who serves you lunch how his day was, and give the woman walking toward you on the street a smile and a head nod. By doing this, you'll realize that your ex is not the only person who could give you positive energy, which will reinforce your self-confidence and help you heal.
5Steer clear of alcohol, drugs and other coping mechanisms. These all help the symptoms but don't address the underlying problem; alcohol may give you momentary self-confidence, but it won't boost your inner self-confidence.
6Take your time. By accepting that you're not going to heal completely tomorrow, the next day or the day after, you will embrace the healing process more fully.
