A man cave is slang for that room, basement, or part of your living space that your man has taken over. It may be full of his video games, a large-screen TV, a fridge full of beer, or home projects. It can be messy, though it's where he retreats to relax or blow off steam. Make an effort to accept his space and your relationship will be stronger for your effort.

Write down a list of things that frustrate you about the man cave. This may include its messiness, the amount of time he spends in there, or the amount of money he puts into customizing it. Write a separate list of the positive attributes of the man cave, including how it relaxes him, and how he's doing something constructive.
2Focus on the positives list, and think of more potential positives that you're not as obvious. When he's in his man cave, you have a chance to take some time for yourself. Come up with a list of things to do while he's in there and you're bored, such as going out with friends, watching a movie or giving yourself a manicure.
3Select one or two of the negative attributes from the list, and discuss each one with your man, if either one is causing significant problems in your relationship. Approach the discussion in a positive way and not as an attack. Let him know that you're glad he's making a space he can relax in, and ask if the two of you can lay some ground rules.
4Write down the ground rules you come up with and if he's willing, post the rules by the entrance to the man cave. Some helpful rules include: "The man cave is for men only: always knock;" "Every hour I will come out of the man cave to check on you;" or "Man cave only between 6 and 9 PM." Setting these rules (if you and he both agree to them) will help you accept his private space.
