How to Get an Ex to Forgive You and Give You Another Chance

If you messed up somehow in your relationship and caused a breakup, but you are seeking forgiveness from your ex and the opportunity for another chance, there are different things you can do. Problems of some kind occur in almost every relationship. Many are easy to overcome, while others are more difficult. If you really want another chance with your ex, demonstrate that you are willing to repair the damage you have done.

Reflect on what went wrong. After the breakup, look into the factors that led to it. Sometimes it is a series of things, while other times it is one huge event. There are times too when you have done nothing wrong and your ex just did not want to be in a relationship anymore. Take responsibility for the things you did wrong and determine if you are willing to change or make these things right.

Think about your ex's feelings. Determine from your opinion if getting back together is even an option. Put yourself in his shoes and decide what you would do if you were him. If you think your ex will be totally against it, then it might not be worth trying to do.

Apologize to her. Plan an apology that is clear, easy to understand and that shows her you realize what you did was wrong. Be sincere and specific when apologizing. Let her know that you love her and really want to make this relationship work.

Wait for weeks. Give your ex time to think about things. Getting back together after a breakup does not always happen immediately. You must be patient, and in the meantime you should focus on bettering yourself. He will not believe your apology if you prove during this time that you have not changed. Avoid flirting and one-night stands, and never use jealousy to try to win him back.

Keep your distance. During this time, stay away from your ex even if you are desperate to communicate with her. Avoid going places where you might run into her. Keeping your distance does not mean you cannot have any contact. Let her know you are thinking of her by sending her an email or calling her occasionally.

Build a friendship. Do not try to rush right back into the relationship, but instead work on building a platonic friendship. A strong friendship might lead back into the relationship, which could be better in the future than it ever was before.
