How to Stay Calm While Breaking Up With a Guy

One of the most difficult things in life, it can seem, is breaking up with someone. While it is an emotional time, it is better for everyone involved to stay calm while breaking up. As hard as it may be, it is much easier to handle the stress of a breakup when you can maintain your composure and explain clearly and respectfully why you feel a relationship is not working out.

Instructions

Write down the main points of what you want to say during the breakup talk. Make notes of why the relationship is not working and why you feel it is better to break up.

Explain to your boyfriend why you don't feel that the relationship should continue. Avoid blame or accusations, and do not let the breakup talk turn into an argument.

Breathe deeply and remind yourself that you have decided to break up. Don't change your mind in the middle of the breakup talk. Be prepared for your boyfriend to be upset. Be understanding, but don't waver on your decision to break up.
