How to Dump a Boyfriend and Not Look Bad

It's true. Breaking up is hard to do. When you've tried everything to salvage your relationship and nothing has worked, it's time to dump your boyfriend. Follow these steps to break the news to him gently, preserve his self-esteem and ensure you don't end up looking like a heartless monster.

Make a list of your boyfriend's good qualities and bad qualities. If the good ones outweigh the bad, reconsider dumping him. He might be Mr. Right.

Choose an appropriate time to dump your boyfriend. Make sure he hasn't experienced a traumatic event, such as losing a parent or getting demoted at work, right before you break the news.

Arrange to meet your boyfriend in a public place if you decide that you still do need to dump him. It's always best to break up with someone face-to-face, rather than over the phone or via email.

End the relationship and leave no ambiguity in the mind of your boyfriend. Do not continue the relationship and then drop hints that you desire to end your relationship. When you finally get around to dumping him, he will resent your earlier behavior.
