How to Give a Boy Hints That You Want to Go Out

Boys sometimes are shy about asking a girl out, especially if they don't know if the girl is interested in a date. It might be that you have been friends with him for a while, but he doesn't realize you want to date him. Dating a friend can be dangerous territory because it has the potential to ruin a friendship. He might be hesitant to ask you out because of this. You might need to give him hints that you want to go out. Dropping subtle hints helps to maintain your friendship if he isn't interested in dating.

Ask him if he has a girlfriend or if he is interested in dating anyone, then let him know that you are also single, if he asks. If he knows that you aren't in a relationship, it will be easier for him to pick up on flirtatious gestures and hints for a date.

Make a casual statement about your availability for a date, such as, "I'm going to be so bored at home this Saturday with nothing to do." He may catch your hint that you are looking for something to do and that by telling him about it, you are open to an invitation from him.

Inform him of upcoming events in your area, especially if it pertains to an established common interest the two of you share. If you are both fans of the same band, let him know that the group is coming to town and maybe, casually say, "We should see the show."

Tell him you are interested in taking up a new hobby or learning a skill that he possesses. Suggest that he ask you on an instructional date. Do this only if you are genuinely interested in his hobby, because he will be able to sense your lack of interest if it leads to a date.

Compliment him on his clothing or his answers in your class together. This shows that you are paying attention to him. You can flirt with compliments but it's a subtle form of flirting, so you aren't in an awkward position if he isn't interested.

Ask him directly for the date if he doesn't pick up on your hints and you are confident that he is interested. Some guys are too shy to take the first step, no matter how many hints you drop.
