How to Tell a Girl to Move on

If your ex-girlfriend is trying to get back together with you, be respectful but firm in encouraging her to move on. Be clear about your decision to end the relationship and do not send mixed messages by texting, sending emails or by engaging in sexual intercourse because you miss the affection.

Be respectful when talking with her. If your ex-girlfriend is pleading with you to give the relationship another chance but you know it will never work, tell her the reasons why you don't want to get back together. Don't yell insults at her or belittle her character when explaining your reasons for ending the relationship.

Use non-verbal ways to communicate your wishes. Don't answer her phone calls or text messages, delete any emails she sends and throw away letters that she mails to your home. Keep away from her home and avoid contact with her family and friends. If these methods don't work, write a letter stating that you want her to move on.

Encourage her to find other things to do with her life. If your ex girlfriend tends to put other goals on hold to focus most of her time on the relationship, tell her that instead of trying to re-establish the relationship, she needs to develop new career goals where she can use her talents or find activities that will help her to find her purpose in life.
