There are a variety of places and social situations where men and women have the opportunity to meet and get to know one another. But, to expand the possibilities of networking with people of the opposite sex, you may have to get out of your comfort zone and seek experiences and visit new places that will provide you the opportunity to meet people you wouldn't otherwise meet.

Bars are always a great, easy way to meet people and strike up a conversation. If you're an avid music lover, try going to a bar or club that features your favorite music. That will give you a point of connection with someone who's likely there for the same reason you are. One of the best things about bars and clubs is that you can either go solo or with a group of people, depending on how comfortable you are in social situations. It can be less intimidating to talk to people you don't know when you're surrounded by people you do know.

Social events such as parties, concerts and sporting events are prime locations to meet people. The benefit of such social events is that people are usually in a good mood and anticipate having a good time. This makes it easy to facilitate friendly, fun conversations with people who posses your similar interests. For instance, if you're an avid baseball fan, a wonderful place to meet someone is at the baseball stadium. Whether or not you're rooting for the same team, you've already got you're topic of conversation playing on the field in front of you. The advantage of meeting people at parties is that they already have some connection to your social group which can assure you that they're friendly enough to be invited to a party, at the very least.

Classes, clubs and sporting activities are perfect opportunities for men and women to meet. Some interesting and fun places are comedy theaters offering classes in improv, community centers and libraries that have book clubs or local co-ed sporting teams such as softball and volleyball. All of these activities are great because they create a fun environment with no real pressure to get to know people. The real bonus is, if you don't have the courage to talk to someone the first week, you'll have plenty more chances in the following weeks to make new acquaintances.
