How to Get Guys to Like One's Personality Not Looks

Whether you're extremely good looking or just another face in the crowd, your looks can often get in the way of your relationships. Strong, lasting relationships revolve around trust, support and mutual respect. If a guy never gets to see your personality, you won't have a chance to develop these amazing relationship characteristics. To break through your looks and let your personality shine, follow these steps.

Talk to guys. This sounds simple almost to the point of being absurd, but think about it--so many girls spend their time trying to look good and act a certain way around guys that they don't really get a chance to talk to them.

Be yourself. If you're a funny person, tell jokes. If you're a bit more serious, don't be afraid to play it straight. Just remember that being yourself attracts people to you who like you for who you really are.

Ask guys about what's going on in their lives. Guys aren't stereotypical talkers, but they'll strike up a conversation about sports, food or entertainment with just about anyone.

Allow yourself to be assertive and even aggressive from time to time. Guys tend to enjoy the challenge of hanging out with girls who are as fiery and competitive as they are.

Have a positive outlook on life. Most people, in general, prefer the company of others who are happy and upbeat. Save the moping and spells of pseudo-depression for when you're home alone.

Respect yourself, always. Regardless of how much your friends pressure you to change, never give something away you don't want to give. Remember that good guys are attracted to self-respect and inner strength.
