How to Get Rid of an Obsession of Love

Getting over a relationship or a crush is difficult. When you are in love, you spend time, energy and money on that person with the hopes of building a bright future. Sometimes a relationship fails, and you have to get re-acclimated with being single. The hard part of this healing process is when you feel like you're obsessed with this person and are struggling with getting over him. Despite the challenge, there are many ways to get over a failed relationship.

Talk about your breakup with your friends and family, and allow yourself to grieve. Holding in your emotions can be unhealthy and can lead to an emotional breakdown. Allowing yourself to talk about the breakup will help you gain clarity on the subject and will allow your loved ones to chime in with their own advice.

Put away reminders of the person. Constantly seeing photographs and gifts in your home will keep you emotional. You don't have to throw these objects away, but put them away in storage until the pain from the relationship doesn't feel so raw.

Don't stalk your loved one social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. It is hard not to constantly check their online profiles because you are probably feeling desperate to know what is going on in their lives and if they have met someone else. If you cannot control yourself, consider blocking your ex's profile or temporarily shutting down your own profile. Like pictures and gifts, your ex's profile is a reminder of the relationship. Constantly checking their profile will slow you from moving on.

Remain active. It's easy to sit at home and feel sorry for yourself, but being active is a way to get rid of your hurt feelings. Reconnect with old friends, go on a vacation or simply catch a movie. Find things to distract your mind from your ex.

Be open to meeting someone else. You should not rush into a new relationship, but remember that there are plenty of fish in the sea. Embrace being single, and meet other singles in your community. By doing this, you might meet someone who ends up being a good friend and a significant other.
