How to Set Up Two Friends on a Date

Playing match-maker is always difficult. When you are close friends with both individuals, it can be even more difficult. If they hit it off and have a good time, great. It's all too easy to get call in the middle if things go sour. You can never know for sure if two friends are destined for eternal love, but you can make the suggestion. Here's how to set up two friends on a date!

Instructions

Figure out a place for the meeting. Blind dates and set-ups are always nerve racking for daters. Invite both of them to a party or public location where they can meet in a comfortable atmosphere. They will have you as a buffer so you can introduce them and break the ice.

Give them space. Once you have introduced them, that's all you need to do. As match-maker and as a mutual friend, you need to stay out of the fray. This initial separation on your part is how you draw the line.

Make sure you don't choose sides as the relationship develops. When one comes to you to complain about the other, make it clear that you don't want to get involved because you are friends with both of them. Don't be afraid to offer neutral, unbiased advice on how to mend the relationship. A fail-safe piece of advice is, "Tell him/her how you feel," or "Talk to him/her."

Both friends will confide in you about their relationship. This will put you in the position to meddle. Fight the urge. Especially stay away from big relationship issues.

Know that your involvement in this relationship ended immediately after introductions. From that point on, you are just a friend.
