How to Handle a Breakup After the Person Keeps Calling You

Breaking up with a significant other can range from a bit tough to very difficult. Once the breakup has occurred, both parties need to try to move on and begin a new life. Moving on can be difficult, however, if your ex continues to call you. You need to decide how you feel about the phone calls then handle the situation directly.

Figure out how you feel when your ex calls you. For example, you could be happy to hear from her and want to talk to her more, especially if she broke up with you. On the other hand, your heart may sink a bit when you see her name pop up on your phone, and you could be reluctant to answer.

Determine if you are happy with the breakup. You could decide that you made a mistake in breaking up with your ex. You might also be confident that moving on is the best thing.

Deal with the calls honestly. If your ex's phone calls have make you rethink the breakup and want to get back together, talk to her about it. If she is willing to try to work things out and begin dating again, start moving in that direction. If her phone calls have cemented the fact that the relationship have been over, tell her to stop calling. Be gentle and nice about it, but make it clear that her calls are unwelcome and you believe that ceasing contact is the best way for you both to get over the hard time.

Stop taking her calls if she does not listen to your request. Stop answering her calls or text messages completely. Answering even part of the time can encourage her to continue calling you.

Block her number from calling you at all if her phone calls upset you or if she will not stop calling you over a length of time.
