Opening Conversations for Meeting Girls

Approaching a girl that you're interested in can be a nerve-wracking situation. You might worry that you'll lose your cool when you're talking to her and say something embarrassing, or you may want to give up before you've even said the first word to her. The following are some ideas for how to create opening conversations for any girl in any situation.

Before you talk to her, quickly look at what she's doing, what she's wearing and how she's doing it. Is she intensely reading a book? Is she trying to control her umbrella in a rainstorm? Is she nodding her head to music? Answering the question of what she's doing will provide clues as to how to begin a conversation with her. You can begin a conversation on the book she's reading, her fun tattoo, her haircut, her rain galoshes or her puppy that she's walking. If you can't find anything that she's doing or wearing to comment on, take in the atmosphere of the place that both of you are in. If it's a coffeehouse playing music, comment on the music. If it's the park, comment on the foliage and start talking about your season.

Once you've made an opening comment about whatever observation you've made about what she's wearing, what she's doing or the environment that you're both in, ask her what she thinks. Don't ask her anything that can be answered with a simple "yes" or "no," since these will end your conversation prematurely. Instead, ask her for her personal opinion of the book she's reading, and then if you've read or heard of the book, you can add your own comments. If she's buying something at the grocery store that you've never tried, ask her what it tastes like and how to cook it, and then you can continue with a funny cooking anecdote. Make sure that you're engaging her by connecting your initial comment to something that she does or wants to do.

If you can't think of anything original to say to meet a girl, you might want to bring something from your home that you feel comfortable talking about. Bring a book with you if you decide to approach that girl who's reading. Bring your dog out for a walk in the park as a conversation starter. Bring that funny hat that's been lying around your house, and ask a girl what she thinks of it. Make sure that your opening conversation connects your life and experience with the girl's life and experiences. A conversation opener that can segue into a real, interesting conversation will peak a girl's interest much more than a pick-up line, which comes off as cheesy and insincere.
