How to Fall Out of Love With a Best Friend

Falling in love with a best friend can change your relationship with him. Falling out of love with a best friend can be difficult, especially if you and your best friend started dating only to find out that it is best to go back to being just friends.

Acknowledge your feeling of love for your best friend. Decide if you truly love your best friend or if you simply care about her.

Make a list of the reasons why you should remain just platonic friends. This can include the things that you find unattractive about your best friend.

Consider the people that your best friend has dated in the past. This will give you an indication of whether you are a good match for your best friend.

Write a letter to your best friend that details your feelings. You can destroy the letter after you write it. It will help you to get over your feelings.

Spend less time with your best friend. This may be difficult at first, but it is only necessary until your feelings subside to a friendly level.

Think about the value of your friendship. A solid friendship is better than a rocky love affair.

Talk to a trusted friend or parent if your love for your best friend stays strong despite your attempt to fall out of love with him.
