Most people have at least one single friend who can't seem to find that special someone. It's tempting to step in and play matchmaker; it can lead to terrific results as long you are honest with both parties, don't get too invested in the relationship working, and respect the wishes of your friends.

Ask your single friends if they want to be set up. Don't assume that just because your friends are single they are looking to meet a partner. If the answer is yes, ask each of them characteristics of their ideal partners.
Get permission from all parties before you do anything. Listen carefully and respect their wishes. If one of your friends wants to meet other singles but does not want to be set up on a date, don't take the lead and set up a date anyway.
2Be honest when you tell people about their potential matches. If you know that a well-paying job is a must for one party, don't lie or embellish the truth in order to get the set-up going. Lying may get the date off on the wrong foot and cause turbulence down the road, because falsely raising expectations can only lead to disappointment. Show each party a recent, accurate picture of the other person.
3Offer support to the friends that you are setting up but don't smother them. If they hit it off and decide to go out again, you might feel a sense of ownership over the relationship and feel you can offer advice freely. Fight this urge, take a set back and offer advice only when asked. Conversely, don't get too involved, and become the "referee" of dating drama between your two friends. Let them sort out their problems themselves.
4Encourage a second match with another person if the first one does not work out. Blind dates do not often lead to long-term relationships. Let your single friend know that there are plenty of potential mates in the world, and that you will set him or her up with someone else. Ask him what he thinks went wrong with the first match-up and what kind of person he might like to meet next. Focus on the positives by pointing out that even bad dates are good learning experiences.
