How to Let Someone Go

There comes a time in everyone's life where they have to let go of someone they love. The process is never easy, but it's something that everyone must learn to endure. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to make the transition as smooth as possible.You can get over the pain of letting someone go, and learn to move on.

Put your thoughts down on paper. One of the best ways to let go of someone you love is to write how you're feeling. You don't have to show anyone else the paper, but it gives you the chance to say all the things that are bottled up inside of you. When you're done, cut the note up into lots of tiny pieces and throw it into the wind.

Find something to occupy your time. Sitting around feeling sorry for yourself isn't helping you move on. If you have to let someone go, the best thing you can do is get out there and start living life again. Try a new hobby, or enroll in a class. When you're busy learning to salsa dance, you can begin to forget about your troubles.

Seek solace in others. Depending on the situation, you may not be the only one trying to deal with the loss of a loved one. Find comfort in the knowledge that you're not alone, and spend time with friends and family members who understand what you're going through. If you don't have anyone close, look for a support group to help you deal with your loss.

Reminisce. For some, the idea of rehashing old memories may seem like a step backward, but it can be quite healthy. Give yourself permission to get out old photo albums and remember the fun you once shared. It will help you heal.
