In witchcraft-based religions such as Wicca and other Pagan groups, setting up altars for practicing "magick" is common. Depending on your intent, the altar you create can be used for general spell-crafting or protection and love spells.
Setting up a love altar gives you the opportunity to focus your intent on either attracting new romance or renewing your current love interest. A love altar not only attracts positive energies, it also allows you to focus intently on your desires.

Select a small table, such as a nightstand or small coffee table. Place it in a quiet, secluded area in your home. This could be in a large closet or somewhere in your bedroom -- a place in which only you can access the altar.
2Cover the surface of the table or nightstand with an altar cloth. These are basically nothing more than decorative or colored scarves on which the altar items rest. Standard altar colors for Wiccan practice are white and purple. However, you can use white, pink or red for a general love altar.
3Place an offering dish in the center of the table or nightstand on top of the altar cloth. A medium-sized bronze or brass bowl is adequate.
4Fill the offering dish with rose hydrosol, which is rose-infused water, and rose petals. Roses are symbolic for love in Wiccan and Pagan beliefs. This attracts loving vibes to your altar.
5Place a candle at either side of the offering dish. Choose red or pink candles to create a loving atmosphere.
6Rub the candles with a blend of essential oil. Essential oils that inspire love include rose, lavender and jasmine.
7Place an incense-burner that contains a romantic blend of incense behind the offering dish. This creates an aroma to help you focus on your intent. Sandalwood, rose, vanilla and other soothing scents lend themselves to this purpose.
