How to Maintain a Relationship With Your Boyfriend in College

College is a difficult time to be in a long-term relationship, because students are growing as individuals while balancing school work with extracurricular activities. This doesn't mean that you can't have a boyfriend when in college; with effort from both you and your boyfriend, you can both make this work. The important thing is to recognize your priorities and how to achieve everything you want out of a college experience.

Balance your relationship with school. Make sure you have enough time to study so you do well in school while your relationship doesn't suffer. Set your schedule so you have enough time once a week to share lunch or dinner with your boyfriend.

Talk to your boyfriend about what you are experiencing in college. If you have a difficult schedule, discuss with him how often you need to study and what classes are the most troublesome. Especially if you don't go to the same college, it's important he understands so he doesn't feel you are making it up or exaggerating.

Join a club or organization with your boyfriend on campus. One of the best ways to experience college is through being involved and this is something you can do together. It's a way to make new friends while spending time together.

Keep lines of communication open with your boyfriend. Communicate in ways that are easy and convenient even during study hours. This includes text-messaging, Twitter, Facebook, email, and other social networking platforms.
