How to Break Up With a Married Man

Dating a married man is never a good idea. No matter what the chemistry, or how infatuated you are, you will never win when you become involved in another person's marriage. Sometimes men are not always honest about marital status upon meeting you. You may find yourself embroiled in a relationship without even knowing Mr. Right is taken. Its not your fault, but staying with him--while he is still living with his wife--is a losing proposition. Now that you have made the decision to end it, heres how to make the break.

Instructions

Go to a public place that isnt noisy. You want some privacy. Its only respectful, but you also dont want to get into a big debate. Go to a park or a coffee shop. You dont want to invite him to your house. He may want to stay and try to change your mind.

Take your own vehicle. You want an easy escape so be sure to have your own means of transportation. You dont want to share a ride or do it while you are out on a date together. Plan ahead and be sure to have your own car with you.

Say the words. This is the hardest part. The married man will undoubtedly be surprised or want to ask a lot of questions, but dont play the game. Simply say, I am sorry, this is no longer working for me. It is not a good experience for me, and I am not going to be a part of this any longer. If you ever cared for me, do not contact me again. Put it in your own words, but be quick and concise. Walk away.

Stick to the truth. You don't have to tell him everything, though. He certainly doesn't do that with others. You don't owe him your full reasons. He should respect the fact that you want out. If he doesn't, leave immediately.

Say what you truly mean. Dont make threats that you don't intend on doing. If you want to tell his wife, there is no reason to make him sweat about it. This is the last time you will likely see him, and you want to have some sort of closure for yourself. Making threats will likely make you feel bad in the long run.

Block his numbers. On your way to the car, block his phone number from your cell phone. Do the same for your home phone. Additional contact will only make this harder and will result in a rebound into the relationship. Be strong and cut off all contact.

Get support. Turn to your friends and begin to make some new plans. Take a class or join a club. Youve made a smart choice to move on. Stick with it.
