How to Mingle at a Singles Party

Singles parties are a popular way of meeting other singles, especially in today's busy world--where it is harder and harder to find time to meet that special someone. Mingling at a singles party can sound like an intimidating experience. However, with a little bit of know-how and self-confidence, any single can mingle.

Instructions

Choose an outfit that is not only flattering but makes you feel both comfortable and confident. When you enter into the party, you do not want to be preoccupied with thoughts of whether your dress is too tight or if your pants are too long.

Attend the singles party with another single friend. This way, together you can conquer the singles' scene by introducing each other to new people. Having a friend with you eliminates the moments where you might be standing alone for a minute or two, if there is no one to talk to in your immediate area.

Start looking around the room for your prospects. If your prospect is already talking to someone, don't worry-you'll come back to them later. In the meantime, you can chat with your friend. If you did come alone, you can chat with someone else who is free while keeping an eye on your prospect.

Excuse yourself from anyone you are currently talking to when your prospect is free. Say that you need to use the bathroom. When you come out of the bathroom, now is the time to go after the guy or gal you've had your eye on!

Maintain good body posture and body language. Don't forget to smile at your prospect! Now is the time to mingle.

Say hello to your prospect, and remember to keep the conversation, light, funny and positive. You can start a conversation by saying such things as, "Nice day, isn't it?" or, "Wow, this place sure is packed!" Small talk is the way to get the conversation going.

Giving a compliment to your prospect is a great way to let him or her know that you are interested. However, make sure that your compliment is polite and appropriate. For example, if you are giving a compliment to a woman, make sure not to make any specific comments about body parts. Instead, tell her that her outfit looks sharp or that her shoes are cute.

Now it's time to seal the deal. Exchange numbers if things are going well.
