How to Distract Yourself From Thinking About an Ex-Boyfriend

Breakups are a challenging relationship experience with which many people grapple. Freeing your mind from your ex boyfriend becomes even more challenging if you were in the relationship for a long time. But remember, you likely lived through a time when you were independent and able to cope without having a boyfriend. And many people go through several relationships before they find the person they will be with for the rest of their lives, though perhaps a long-term relationship isn't for you.

Watch an interesting movie. A captivating film can turn your thoughts away from your ex boyfriend and focus you more on the life of the characters on screen. After the movie, you might also have a better perspective on your situation from what you have learned in the film.

Focus on a hobby or take up a new hobby. For example, join a soccer team to not only get your mind off your boyfriend but also get some exercise, which will decrease your stress and make you feel better.

Get back into a routine. Schedule your day so that you are keeping yourself busy. Focusing on projects that are important will consume your thoughts and not allow your mind to drift back to your ex boyfriend.

Try meditating and clearing your mind of any thoughts. This tactic is most appropriate if you literally can't stop thinking about your ex boyfriend. It's better to think of nothing than to think of him.
