Most women experience at least one painful breakup during their dating time. If you have recently found yourself on the receiving end of heartbreak, fret not. You don't have to embrace the stereotypical image of the unshowered, pajama-clad girl draped sorrowfully across her couch mourning the loss of a relationship by downing a pint of mocha chip. Instead seek out healthy, empowering methods to help you rediscover your own personal strengths and get over your guy quickly.

Begin to heal. During this time of emotional flux, your primary goal needs to be your healing. As difficult as it may seem at first, don't assume the role of nurturer to your ex to try to help him get over the relationship as well. Ignore his phone calls, texts and pleas for you to talk him through the hurt "as his friend" and stay focused on your personal well-being. Gather up mementos that remind you of your guy and either throw them out, donate them or put them in a place you won't be often tempted to look for them to help speed up the recovery process.
2Reinvest in your friends and family. During the course of your relationship, you may have lost touch with or seemed less available to the people you cherished most before you started dating your ex. Reach out to these people and remember that at one point you had an entire network of friends and family in your life who loved you just for you and not as part of a couple. Of course, if you epitomized the girl who dumps all her friends the second a guy asks her out, you may have a bit of apologizing to do. Take accountability, make amends and vow never to behave that way again. Chances are your friends will welcome you back with open arms.
3Add to your network. Think about any activities or clubs you always wanted to check out but never seemed to have the time for during your relationship. Now's the time. Online sites can help you find book clubs in your neighborhood. You also can contact local community colleges or high schools and find out about adult education courses. These group endeavors will ease your heartache twofold by keeping your mind off your guy as well as broadening your social connections.
4Rediscover you. Like your family and friends, you probably also neglected yourself in some ways during your relationship. Post-breakup proves a perfect time to celebrate and honor you. Look online for a list of all community spas. Pick one and pamper yourself for a day. Make yourself a "bucket list" of the things you want to try and/or achieve during your new-found free time. Then do them. Most importantly, try and act as your own best advocate during this difficult time. Follow the advice you would give any one in your inner circle to guide you through this difficult time and you'll be saying "What was his name again?" before you know it.
5Consider dating again. A little cliche, but one of the best ways to get over a guy quickly is to start the dating process again. Once your emotional compass lets you know that you've healed appropriately, start putting yourself out there. Take all the lessons you learned from this past heartbreak to help you understand what you require from a relationship and go for it. You may not find your soul mate right away, but a few fun flirtations will provide some much needed distraction and strengthen up those out of practice first-date muscles.
