How to Stop Wishing Your Ex Would Come Back

Ending a relationship can seem like a devistating event, but it is not the end of your life. Individuals all over the world end relationships daily and move on with their lives. Although ending a relationship can be extremely difficult and trying, there are numerous ways to help cope with loss and stop wishing that your ex would come back into your life.

Realize that the relationship ended for a reason. Whether you both had a difference of opinion, one of you was caught cheating or the spark is no longer there, something happened to jeopardize the relationship to the point where it is done. Realizing and accepting that the relationship is over allows you to free your mind from thinking about you ex and go on through your day happily.

Go out with other people. Whether you go out with a friend to a movie or start dating, occupy your mind and free time with healthy activities. Going out with other people helps you realize that you do not need your ex to have a good time.

Stop all contact with your ex, if possible. Do not call, text, email or talk with anyone about your ex. Word may get around that you want the person to come back, which creates another round of hurt for you. If you do not have children together, stop communication altogether until you feel you are able to talk as friends only without any romantic feelings. Some individuals can do this almost immediately, while it make take several months or years for others. Take your time; there is no rush to get back on a talking terms with your ex.
