When you break up with that special someone, life can become a little confusing. Many people are tempted to dwell on the past, worrying about things they could have done differently or focusing on all the unhappy memories. It is important to remember that life is too short to be anything but happy. Move forward with your life instead of dwelling on the past and losing sight of the things that really matter.

Focus on yourself. Instead of thinking about the past and feeling sad, focus on providing yourself with a better future. Study more for those difficult exams you have coming up. Send out those college or graduate school applications you had been putting off. Take a cooking or fitness class that stimulate your interests. Spend time with a good book or rent the funny chick flick your ex never wanted to see.
2Keep your family close. Remember your family supports you now as they have in the past, and they will be there in the future. Stay close with those people who really matter. Spend more time building relationships with family members whom you had been neglecting.
3Spend more time with your friends. Go out with the girls for a fun night out on the town. Do the things that you did not have time for in the past. Remember that your past wasn't perfect, but that doesn't mean that you and your friends cannot make the future as perfect as possible.
4Change your thinking. Remember the good times in the past and the successes you experienced. Consider the bad times and the lessons learned. Instead of dwelling on the past, focus on using those experiences to create a better future.
