How to Get Comfortable With Your Boyfriend

If you've just started seeing a new guy or perhaps you feel your current relationship is growing distant then feeling comfortable with your man can be challenge. While all of us have insecurities you must overcome these insecurities and feel comfortable with yourself to have a healthy and happy relationship.

Make a list of reasons you feel uncomfortable around him. For example things he says that make you uncomfortable or your insecurities about showing who you really are. Perhaps you don't feel comfortable about your weight so eating around him is hard.

Take a hard look at this list and focus on things you can do to change some of your uneasiness within yourself. For example if you have weight insecurities make an effort to eat healthier and work out.

Visualize yourself handling troubling situations in a relaxed and open way. See yourself moving easily and relating to your boyfriend in a close and affectionate way.

Create a few affirmations from searching online. Find a few short phrases that conjure up the feelings of the true, relaxed you. Repeat them to yourself when you feel nervous.

Talk with him about your insecurities if they are related to something he does or says. He may be willing to change or work on the issue. He will have a better understanding of where you are coming from.

Talk with close friends or family about what is making your uncomfortable. These are people that know the real you and can help you see what may be causing this discomfort. Take advice from people in relationships you admire.

Find helpful hints and relationship advice online. Lots of places give free e-letters and blog articles. It might feel good to know these issues are common and you can overcome them.

Consider seeing a therapist if you feel that it will resolve some old issues.
