How to Outline the General Methods of Communication

Communication is all around us. When we speak, sing or make gestures with our hands, even make a simple glance toward another person, we are communicating. There are also various technological ways of communicating that most of us use on a daily basis such as email, online chatting and telephones. There are dozens of ways to communicate, and the basic methods can be broken down into a basic outline.

Instructions

    1

    Discuss verbal communication. Research and state all elements of language formation including gender, profession, class, age region and other social elements. This list is the bases for language formation and effects the ways in which humans verbally speak to one another. Also discuss interpersonal communication and public speaking.

    Continue with nonverbal communication. Nonverbal communication refers to the tone in our voices when we speak, touching someone on the shoulder when we need their attention, jumping up and down when excited, and so forth. Discuss creative communication methods such as singing or dancing. Pinpoint nonverbal gestures such as a thumbs-up or a wave. Include body language such as posture, crossing of arms, facial expressions and touch.

    Discuss written communication. Include information regarding formal written communication for business purposes such as emails, memos and so forth. Mention informal methods of written communication such as text messages.

    Conclude with visual communication. Include information regarding visual displays such as signs, symbol, and photos. Discuss electronic visual communication methods such as the Internet, video games and television.
