How to Break Up With a Guy

It's never easy to end a relationship. However, there are things you can do to end things quickly and decisively without causing unnecessary pain and grief to your boyfriend. This guide will explain how to break up with a guy.

Say it's over and mean it. Don't leave the door open if the relationship is over. Speak plainly and clearly, say that you need to move on, and don't deviate from that stance. While it may not be pleasant, what a guy really needs to hear is the truth.

Tell your boyfriend first. Don't let him find that you're having second thoughts about things from other people. This is both cruel and unfair. If you want to end things start by talking with him first.

Break up with him in person. Don't use the computer, text messaging or the answering machine. Make time to see him and explain things in person. If it is short term relationship, meaning that you've only been on a few dates, the phone can be acceptable.

Don't use excuses. Most guys can tell your being phony. Just state your reasons plain and simple. If you really feel that your reasons for wanting to break up are just too brutal to say out loud, then be as honest as you can. Still, refrain from making up elaborate excuses and stories.

Keep it short and sweet. When you break up with a guy, hold back from giving an extended speech. Don't make is seem like you can be talked out of ending things. Just state your reasons, and aim to keep the entire conversation to under thirty minutes.
