How to Make My Ex-Boyfriend Quit Calling

You've finally called it quits with your ex, but he doesn't seem to get it. If he's not texting you, he's e-mailing you. You haven't returned those messages, so he's been phoning you. All you want to do is to get him to accept, or at least understand, that you two are over and that it's time for him to move on. There are ways to do that.

Answer his call if you haven't already done so. Ignoring his call may not be sending the message you think it is, and maybe he thinks you're not getting his messages. Pick up the phone and see what he wants. Brace yourself for any requests to rekindle the relationship. Hear him out so you at least know that you've given him the chance to say his piece.

Be frank with him and let him know it's over. Perhaps you've been sending mixed messages and he hasn't been exactly sure where you two stand. Set him straight by letting him know exactly how you feel, reiterating that you're no longer together.

Tell him you do not want him to communicate with you anymore and hope that he will accept that and not try to communicate with someone who doesn't want any communication with him. But if he's been persistent so far, he might keep it up. Sooner or later persistence crosses over into stalking.

Change your phone number if he persists in phoning you and if you aren't sharing the phone with other family members. Tell friends and family members to whom that you're giving your new number that they are not to give it out to your ex.

Involve others in sending the message that he needs to stop calling. If you have a new boyfriend you might have him call your ex to let him know he has no business calling you anymore. If you need to involve your parents in the matter, now's the time. If you have exhausted all reasonable actions to get him to stop calling and his behavior becomes problematic, contact the authorities to send him a warning to leave you alone. They can remind him of the laws on stalking and harassment.
