How to Get Over a Guy You Had a Crush on But Never Went Out With

Nearly everyone has a crush at some point in her life. Many people end up dating their crush, while others never get the chance. If you've just found out that your crush has a significant other, or he's told you that he's not interested in dating you, you may feel devastated. Although it may seem like it's the end of the world, there are several ways for you to cope and begin to get over him.

Instructions

Express your upset, pain and hurt in a manner suitable to you. Such manners can include yelling or crying by yourself, writing in a journal or going on a long walk. Give yourself a day to enter into your miserable feelings and release them as much as possible, then get ready to move on.

Remove anything in your possession that reminds you of the guy. Since you didn't date him, you may not have personal effects, but if you were friends, you may have photos or notes. Throw these in the garbage or, if you believe you can get past the crush and become friends, place them in an area where you won't see them.

Remember that there are many other suitable guys for you. If this is the first time you've had your heart broken, it may seem like you'll never love anyone again. But remember that nearly everyone has been through a letdown and moved on to find new love.

Talk to a close, trusted friend or family member to share your feelings. If you're still hurting, there may be things that you need to get off your chest. Ask someone you trust to listen without passing judgment.

Spend time doing things you enjoy with friends. Doing so will help get your mind off the crush. You may enjoy going to movies, playing sports, going shopping or just hanging out.

Focus on yourself to help get through this challenging time. When you're feeling down, a little pampering may cheer you up. For example, you could go for a manicure or out to your favorite restaurant. Or, you may want to purchase a gym membership and work on improving your physical health.

Think about the other guys you know who are appealing. You might not be immediately ready to have another crush, but if you are, consider the positive characteristics of others. Perhaps you were so focused on your original crush that you've neglected to notice how suitable another guy is.
