How to Deal With a Boyfriend Who Wants More Space

It can be difficult to find out that your boyfriend is feeling a little overwhelmed with all of the attention you give him and wants more space to do his own thing. The good news is there are plenty of things you can do to deal with this situation and give him the space he needs while also keeping him lovingly in your life.

Talk about how much space your boyfriend wants and when he might want it from the beginning. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to read his mind. Get it out in the open from the start how much more time he needs or wants and if there are certain days he wants to keep open for friends, sports or plain old "alone time."

Trust you boyfriend enough and relax. Obsessing about what he is doing every second you are apart is not going to be good for you or him. Plus, your friends do not want to hear about what you think your boyfriend might be doing for an hour at the gym. Try not to drill him with twenty questions as soon as he texts or calls either. Put a little trust in your man and have some fun yourself.

Pamper yourself. Now is the time to give yourself that manicure or pedicure you have been putting off. You can draw a bubble bath and soak with some candles and soft music. Try out some new hair styles or makeup techniques. Spend some of your newly freed time on you.

Pick up your to do list and start marking things off. If you have put off getting out your spring clothes or dusting the living room, this is a great opportunity to get things you should do done and off your list. You will have a better time hanging out with your boyfriend if you don't have a "to do" list on the back burner.

Reconnect with your friends and family. It is so easy to get caught up in a relationship that you accidentally squeeze time from get togethers with friends and family to spend time with your boyfriend. Pick up the phone and give your sister a call. Schedule lunch of a shopping trip with someone you haven't seen in a few weeks.
