Making conversation and small talk while on a date can be a little tricky and awkward. Trying to think of things to talk about to keep your date's interest is no easy task. Treat Your Date Like a Friend -- A good friend. Making small talk and carrying on a conversation is easy to do with friends, right? Treat your date -- no matter how sexy they are -- as an old friend. Be happy, be upbeat, and pay attention to your date. The conversation and small talk will flow!
2Talk About Your Day -- Talk about what you did during the day before your date. Anything out of the ordinary happen? What was your day like? Ask your date about his/her day? What does a normal day look like for your date? Small talk and conversation flow easier when you start talking about normal, everyday activities.
3Admit Your Nervousness/Awkwardness -- Be real and tell your love interest that you are a little nervous or awkward about being on the date. This will probably impress your date and put him/her at ease. Small talk and conversation will flow better and easier the more honest and open you are with your date. Be open. The best conversationalists are usually people who are open and carefree!
4Show Genuine Interest -- Be interested in what your date has to say. Show genuine interest. Pay attention; ask questions. Making small talk and being a good conversationalist often times revolve around simply being a good listener and showing genuine interest in the person you are conversing with. Be interested in your date; the conversation and small talk will pick-up and flow naturally!
5Talk About the Food -- Food is a fun, safe, and stimulating topic. Talking about food can stimulate the conversation and lead to other areas of self-disclosure that can get conversational juices flowing. Ask your date what her favorite food is? Least favorite? Ever tried any exotic, rare food types? Be creative. Food talk can be great conversational fodder!
6Share an Embarrassing Moment -- To further break the ice and to establish more of an intimate rapport, tell your date about an embarrassing moment from your past. Doing this will help you and your date feel more at ease and less guarded. This will make small talk flow much easier and smoother.
