Love Advice for Girls

Love has been the muse to numbers of artists trying to describe their feelings on an easel. It's prompted many musicians and poets a like to dig into their inner beings to produce that one piece of art that truly magnifies what they feel. Love can be a cycle, like all things in nature. You find the person you want to be with and spend a great time getting to know each other. But like all things in life love isn't guaranteed to last forever and sometimes you find yourself at the beginning of the cycle again.

Getting Him

If there's a certain someone you've had your eye on but can't seem to get him to notice you, don't be afraid to make the first move. Miami Dating Coach Dan Silverman, who founded his dating company in October of 2006, suggests having a mutual friend introducing the two of you. The encounter can happen in a classroom, cafeteria or at a friend's house. If you are at a social event such as a game or a dance, Silverman says to "make yourself available." This means to stray away from your group of girl friends for a while as he might be intimidated to approach you while you are in a large group. This also means don't surround yourself by a bunch of guys, either, as the person might think you are with one of them. Take bathroom breaks or go near him. Ask him to take a picture of you and your friends.

Once you have initialized talking, the important thing is to keep up with the conversation. Once it dies down, your guy might get bored and go back over to his friends. Silverman suggests keeping your body language open as this will make you look friendly and open to conversation. Refrain from checking your text messages and looking over your shoulder while he is talking to you. Find out if the two of you have any shared interests. If he likes you, he will want to talk to you again soon.

While You Are With Him

If you have snagged the guy you have been waiting for, show him that you care with little things. You could write poetry for him and leave it in his locker or send it through Facebook. You could also leave random love notes in his pocket. Let him know you and he are exclusive by flirting with him and only him in public.

One romantic thing you can do for your guy is to learn his favorite sports and watch them with him. Even if you detest football or don't understand the rules of soccer you can still enjoy the other things that go along with watching sporting events such as eating junk food during the Super Bowl or yelling at the other team at a live baseball game. This will show your guy that you like him enough to share his interests and will also give you more time with him.

Getting Over Him

It's clich to say that breaking up is hard to do, but the truth is, it's not easy. Whether he doesn't feel the same way about you as you do him; you had to break up with him or he broke up with you even if you weren't ready to, this is the time to re-evaluate what you want and to focus on yourself.

An article from kidshealth.org says that during this time you may be feeling grief, confusion, anger, low self-esteem and even jealousy. Share your feelings by talking to a close friend. Ask him or her to see a movie or go to a concert. You can also try writing down your feelings in a journal. No matter the outlet, it is important for you to share your feelings at this time.

To minimize depression, take care of yourself. Get eight hours of sleep each night. Eat healthy foods and exercise. This is a good opportunity to join a gym or join a school league.

Keep yourself busy by finding a new hobby or learning a new activity. You can volunteer time at your local animal shelter, learn how to do needlepoint or make a scrapbook of fun pictures that involve you and your close friends. At times like this, having something to do will help you to forget your sadness. Remember, it's ok to cry. Give yourself some private time each day to do this until you feel better. Hide in your room for an hour and cry into your pillow or cry in the shower when you wake up in the morning. Just remember after you are done crying that you need to get on with the rest of your day too.
