How to Win an Ex Back When She Isn't Willing

You could care less whose fault it is. All you're concerned with is making right the wrong that caused you and your ex to break up. You've called her, you've texted her. You've even stopped by her house. No tears, promises or bribes to her best friend have gotten you any closer to getting through to your girl. Nothing. However, if you're really ready to take a stab at winning back your ex, there are a few tricks to get her attention you might not have tried.

The Early Bird Gets The Worm, Not The Ex

Give her time. Allow time for the dust to settle on her emotions before you come begging for forgiveness. Provide her with time to vent, dissect the situation and get her mind together before you attempt to make things better or discuss. Allot her a few days, or even weeks for the initial feelings to smooth over before you try to get back in her good graces.

Be honest about your feelings. Try to reach out to her and talk to her about your emotions and what the break-up has done to you. Consider that she is probably still sensitive, and she may not be willing to hear you out, but give her your heartfelt emotions regarding the break-up. Don't grovel; you will come off as condescending. Expect nothing in return so she doesn't feel the pressure of having to make a decision either way.

Be nice. Go out of your way to do things for her without expecting anything in return. Don't rush the process of getting back to the core values of what made you two awesome; simply take it slow. Attempt to infuse yourself into her schedule in the most helpful ways, possibly including staying up late to help her with a project she might be working on or by offering to run an errand.

Be yourself. Allow the goofy, charming side of you to showcase your efforts. Chances are, you may have been viewed as an insensitive jerk at some point. Smile, be happy and get the chip off your shoulder, if you really care about her. Show her that you're not afraid of being the real you around her and that you are capable of inner growth. Go out on a limb and make a fool of yourself at her job in that special way that shows her you're just a silly boy after her heart.

Work on you. Wait for the process to take effect. Realize that it might take longer than anticipated for her to take you back. Do something productive with your life, so if and when she is ready to consider getting back together, she'll notice that you're capable of making changes to your life for your own good. Savor the moments, if you really care about her. If you get her back, don't let her go again -- she may not be willing to give your relationship another chance.
