How to Get Away From a Heartbreaking Relationship

Getting out of a heartbreaking relationship is hard because part of you wants to stay and part of you wants to go. Wanting to stay is probably rooted in your idea that the relationship might turn out to be golden. Also, you might be concerned about hurting the other person. However, in staying you are usually only prolonging the amount of time it will take each of you to get over the heartbreak in the end.

Decide that you are going to leave this heartbreaking relationship and stick with your decision. Committing to the decision is imperative before proceeding.

Invite your partner to a specific place to declare the breakup. While a less public place is usually better, you do not want to be too far from others in case the situation turns ugly.

Tell your partner how you have been feeling in a way that does not blame him or her. Our feelings are ultimately our responsibility and should not be passed off as the fault of others. Use thoughtful honesty to convey to the other person why you can no longer go on with the relationship.

Keep or create distance between the two of you.. If you have been living together, break up that arrangement and divide up your belongings in a fair manner..

Allow yourself the time to feel the emotions you will go through as a result of the breakup. Rushing to get over the split will only leave unresolved feelings. Practice forgiveness of yourself and your ex-partner as much as possible. Hanging onto grudges negatively affects the subconscious mind, ultimately hurting a person more.

Wait awhile to speak to your ex again otherwise it will feel as though you are slowly peeling the bandage off rather than giving it one quick yank.
