How to Keep From Falling for an Ex-Boyfriend

Most breakups consist of lonely nights filled with old movies and ice cream. After a few days or even weeks of wallowing, most women bounce back, ready for round two. Before you sign up for the convent, try these tips to not only get over an ex-boyfriend, but to keep from falling for him again.

Get rid of anything that is a reminder of your ex-boyfriend. Although it may seem like a great idea to keep the sappy love letters or cute little trinkets he once gave you, it isn't. If you can't bear to throw them away or they have deep monetary value like jewelry, give them to a trusted friend or family member. Tell friends that you can no longer talk about your ex and they should support you in this endeavor.

Find new interests, a new hobby or pick up old ones that you shed because they didn't fit inside the confines of the old relationship. This allows you to step out of the box and experience new things or rediscover the pleasures that you forgot about when you were with your ex-boyfriend.

Make a concentrated effort to meet as many new people as possible to get over your ex and to keep from falling for him again. Go on vacation and meet people from different countries. Extend yourself in your new hobbies and make new friends. Go to bookstores or sign up for new classes to meet new people.

Start dating again so you don't fall for your ex-boyfriend. Several dates may make you cringe, but in the end it can give you something to laugh about with friends. And remember that each time you get back up in the saddle again the ride gets a little bit easier each time.

Look at each new date with fresh eyes to get over your ex-boyfriend. See your date for the qualities he posses and never compare him to your ex. This is the most difficult part because someone who is gone seems to be enshrined with god-like qualities. In reality, something caused the relationship to break up, so always give yourself that reality check to keep from falling for your ex.
