These variables cannot be known unless tested. This is why you should both agree to move slowly and keep each other aware of how changes in the dynamic of the relationship are impacting you both.

Use clear and constant communication. Have a sense of humor as you both try to explain what is working and not working within the new relationship. Be patient and agree to maintain open and honest communication. This agreement will provide a foundation of trust for the relationship and remind you both why you were able to maintain a friendship for as long as you have.
