How to Say Goodbye to a Boyfriend

Dealing with a break-up can feel like one of the most challenging parts of life, but it's one that most people eventually have to deal with. Think of it as a challenge that life throws your way so that you can grow as a person and learn from your mistakes. When you're saying goodbye to a boyfriend, mentally will yourself to stay strong. Times like these seem like they're the end of the world, but you'll realize later on that sometimes things end for the best.

In order to find closure, go out for a casual lunch or coffee just to talk. It's okay to talk about where you went wrong as long as you don't start arguing or yelling. The best way to say goodbye is to thank each other for the good memories, forgive each other for the bad, hug one last time and walk away without looking back.

Stay in touch with friends to help yourself cope with your grief. The end of a long term committed relationship can almost feel like the end of a marriage. Friends will act as your support group. Talk to them as often as you can. They will help cheer you up and remind you of things you have to look forward to. Sometimes friends can even point out why going through a difficult situation is for the best, even if you can't see it yet.

Write about it. There are some things you can't share with anyone, not even your best friend. Putting pen to paper can offer cathartic relief. Write as often as you feel the urge to and be brutally honest. Don't tell anyone that you do so because they'll try to pressure you into letting them read your journal. When you feel like you've moved on, burn those pages in a safe place.

Take care of your health. When you're having a bad day, week or month, it can be easy to forget about your health. Neglecting yourself, eating junk food and getting lazy will only make you feel worse. Eat healthy and exercise. Junk food can depress your mood, and exercising releases serotonin, which is a mood-boosting neurotransmitter.

Keep busy. The more active you are, the less time you'll have to wallow in self-pity. Study and work harder than ever before. Sometimes when you go through the worst break-up of your life, it can lead to the most productive time as well.
