How to Keep Dating Casual

You may have just been through a tough break-up or maybe you are not ready for a serious relationship; whatever the reason, you may want to casually date. There is nothing wrong with keeping a relationship strictly casual, as long as both people are on the same page. Dating is not an exact science, although there are some tips you can use. However, there are a few guidelines to keep in mind so you do not send mixed signals or hurt anyone's feelings.

Date more than one person at once and be open that you are not looking for an exclusive relationship. It is important to be honest so you do not hurt anyone's feelings. Let some time pass between dates, because the more often you see or speak to a person, the more it seems like a serious relationship.

Go on group dates with several couples. This will take the pressure off and make it seem less serious. In a group setting, the conversation will not be as focused on you and you will feel more like friends than a couple.

Attend casual events together such as grabbing lunch or going for a walk in the park. Avoid more serious settings like hanging out with the family or a romantic night out for dinner. These situations are more suitable for long-term couples than those who are casual dating.

Keep conversation topics simple and casual. The more you talk about your life's ambitions and goals, the more intimate and serious it gets. Try to talk about trivial subjects like sports or current events and keep the focus off of you.

Avoid having sex if you want to keep the relationship casual. Including sex in the equation gives the impression that you are looking for an intimate relationship.

Get out of a casual relationship that is turning more serious or if it seems like strong feelings are beginning to develop.
