How to Deal With a Boyfriend Who Doesn't Satisfy You

The secret to having a satisfying relationship is communication. Robert M. Krauss from Colombia University says that true communication has to be a collaborative activity, so you and your boyfriend have to be serious about working on the elements of the relationship that leave you feeling unsatisfied. Dealing with someone who doesnt satisfy you and it could be for any number of reasons varying from not wanting to split expenses to incompatibility can be demanding because you have to assess the strengths and weaknesses of your interpersonal relationship.

Compile a list of reasons your boyfriend doesnt satisfy you. Jot down everything you can think of, such as feeling emotionally unsatisfied to being annoyed that he doesnt return phone calls or take you seriously.

Assess the list and ask yourself if you are being petty. Relationships are delicate balancing acts and you may be expecting too much.

Consider seeing a psychologist or a counselor. Someone who is trained to assess other people's behaviors can give you an outsiders perspective as to whether or not your lack of satisfaction is justified or not.

Schedule a meeting with your boyfriend. Rather than waiting for the issue to come up in a general conversation, tell him that you want to discuss your dissatisfaction in an open, honest and non-judgmental way.

Present the list you compiled and the resolutions you would like to see. Try to remain unemotional, as crying or yelling will confuse the issues. Stay focused and ask your boyfriend if he understands why you arent feeling satisfied with him.
