How to Apologize to Your Boyfriend After a Bad Breakup

A bad break up often causes both people to suffer with hurt feelings, guilt and regret. One of the most important parts of the healing process after a bad break up is to get to a place emotionally where you can realize that you were not always perfect and that perhaps your boyfriend deserves an apology. Allowing yourself to apologize to your boyfriend offers a great way for you and him to get to know one another again, rekindle your relationship or simply move on.

Instructions

Remove yourself from the bad break up and from your boyfriend for a while. Give yourself at least one month to reflect upon your relationship, the break up and what caused the relationship to fail. Refrain from communicating with your boyfriend at all for at least the first month after the bad break up.

Recognize when you begin feeling ready to make a true apology. Don't apologize in order to try and get back with your boyfriend. A true apology is one that speaks from the heart and is meant to let your boyfriend know how truly sorry you feel for any pain that you have caused.

Write down all of the reasons that you wish to apologize. Review the list of reasons that you have in order to make sure that you are apologizing for the right reasons. You can also use this list to form your apology.

Invite your boyfriend out for a simple lunch date or to meet up for coffee. It is best to apologize in person so that he can get a true sense of how bad you feel for the events that took place. Be open and honest with your apology and let him know where you want things to go from here.
