Being turned down for a job, being cheated on or simply being ignored by someone is often shocking, hurtful and devastating. Rejection has the power to cause anxiety and destroy confidence. However, several healthy coping mechanisms lessen the raw pain that's inevitable in the process of getting over the situation.

Expect to get rejected. Allow yourself to feel shocked, hurt or angry when you are rejected. Know that, even though being let down is disappointing and difficult to face, it is a fact of life. Let go of any ideas of perfectionism in yourself and others.
2Understand that rejection is not personal. Try to comprehend that oftentimes a rejection has little to do with you and more to do with the other person. Believe in yourself and your abilities.
3Learn from it. Look at the positive side of the situation and consider the rejection a useful life experience that will help you grow. Understand that being rejected for the "perfect" job or by a mate can actually be a blessing in disguise.
4Move on. Once you have given yourself time to grieve and have objectively reflected on what has happened, take what you have learned and move on with your life. Put the focus back on moving forward. Surround yourself with people who care about you; do activities you enjoy.
