Valentine's Day can be a bit tricky for any guy to plan out, but with a girl you've never met, the stakes become higher. First impressions, gifts, activities and conversation are important factors to consider for the big day. You have options on Valentine's Day ideas for approaching your date. Most importantly, be yourself and enjoy your time together.
Get Her a Gift
No matter how cliquish or materialistic holiday gifts may appear, girls love to receive them. Stay simple. Get her flowers, chocolates and/or a teddy bear. If you want to get more creative, try making her a blank photograph album or arranging a bouquet of wild flowers with a ribbon. Another idea is to get her a blank journal and write "February 14, [year]" on the top line, followed with "Today I met [your name]." You can also make her cookies, brownies or chocolate-covered fruit. Put them in a clean mason jar and tie a colorful bow around it with a single flower.
Plan an Outing
A planned outing reduces stress attached to fear of the unknown. Also, an activity that involves meeting and/or being out in public will make the girl feel more comfortable. Whether your first activity is ruined by bad weather or you want to continue a pleasant date, planning for another activity helps to diminish nervousness and uncertainty. Take her to read at your favorite bookstore. This activity allows for a comfortable, public setting while stimulated conversation is inspired. You can also explore a science or children's museum. If you're looking for a more interactive activity, take her to an arcade. While some sports or games draw attention to uneven skill-sets, arcades provide a range of games that you might both be equally challenged. Use your ticket winnings to select a souvenir for her. You can also take her to a nontraditional movie, such as an independent film at a living room theater or a late-night projection movie shown in a park.
Ice-Breakers
Once you've got the gift, planned the outings, and set the date, start preparing for the most important aspect of the date: conversation. You've never met this girl; therefore, you have no idea how the conversation might flow. So plan ahead. To keep the conversation interesting, think about things that you might say after introducing yourself. Tell a story: "Happy Valentines Day, by the way! I swear this holiday makes people go crazy. A couple years ago, I saw this one guy do (insert Valentine's Day story from your experience) ..." You can also tell a joke: Be confident and charismatic -- pretend to be if you're not.
