How Does a man Break up With a Woman?

Breaking up with a woman is a very difficult thing to do. A man can do things to protect feelings or present things in the best light, but breaking up is when a relationship is ended. While a man might offer an olive branch of friendship, the romance is declared over. If the break up is handled with respect, it will end better.

Be kind, honest, diplomatic and clear. Choose the right time and place. If she is going through a difficult time, do it when she is on stronger ground. If she is celebrating an important moment, delay a break up for a moment if it wouldn't do any further damage to the two of you.

Diplomacy is important in a break up. If you're breaking up because of a lack of attraction, try to explain it as a lack of chemistry and a clash of who the two of you are as a couple. It will not be lying--and it won't be hurting her feelings as badly as being blunt about it. Honesty is important, but so is preserving her feelings.

Be extremely clear during a break up. A woman in love will see any signs of vagueness as hope for the relationship. If the man is completely sure that it's over, spell that out very clearly. Otherwise, he will cause more heartache for both of them. Although it seems cruel in the moment, it's more kind to make sure there is clarity about the fact that it's completely over.

The break up should be handled in private. This is always true. It should not happen at an important event. A break up should always be done in person. It should never be done over the phone, through text messages or through the Internet.

Set aside a time to talk. It's ideal to meet at her home or at his. He should explain that he has something important to talk to her about. The man should then state that he has decided that wants to break up. He should state this in a personable and direct way.

He should take her feelings into consideration, and he should also be prepared for her possible reactions. She may get angry. She may cry. She may question his decisions. She may even try to talk him out of the break up, asking for another chance. Reactions are unpredictable when it comes to a break up, but prepare for possible scenarios in advance. Think things through carefully beforehand so that the decision is not swayed, regardless of the reaction.

It may seem natural that to provide comfort, but it's usually not the wisest thing after a break up. Leave the situation after making sure that she is okay. Depending on how she takes the news, call a mutual friend to provide a shoulder to cry on.
