Many preteens and teens want to start dating, as they have already begun to have crushes. You may have romantic feelings for a classmate, but the prospect of asking her out may be very daunting. You may have no idea what to say or what she will say. Use the following steps as a guide to when, where and how to ask a girl out at school.

Make a good first impression. Even if you share a class with the girl, you may never have spoken to her personally. Introduce yourself politely and use your charm to impress her. Tastefully compliment her, such as telling her you enjoyed a book review she presented or an art project she completed. Tell her a joke to put her at easer, even if your joke is corny. She may appreciate the levity.
2Establish a friendship with the girl. Get to know her, even if your time together is limited to school. Allow her to get to know you, so she begins to feel comfortable and trust that your intentions are good. Discuss mutual interests and hobbies to establish a connection.
3Personally ask the girl out. Ask her face to face, rather than over the phone, email, text message or other social networking method. It is more sincere to ask her in person, and she will respect you for having the courage to ask her directly. Ask her after school or during lunch period, rather than during class.
4Invite her to go on a group date, so that she feels more comfortable. If she is shy or nervous about the prospect of going on a date, she may be more likely to accept your offer if her friends are present. Suggest something casual, such as the movies or a ball game, rather than dinner, which may be more intimidating.
5Respect her answer if she declines, so that you keep options open for the future. Perhaps she still wants to get to know you, or she just isn't quite ready to date. Perhaps she is not allowed to date until she reaches a certain age. Accept her answer and do not pressure her, so she has a positive view of you when her circumstances change.
