To locate a person's employer, it is helpful to know in which city and state he works or resides, especially if the person for whom you are searching has a common name. If you do not have that information, you can still narrow the search field if you know their approximate age and where she has lived or worked in the past. Two main Internet search engines will be of the most use: Yahoo! and My Web Search by Google. It's more than likely that the information you seek will be revealed quickly by finding the person's listing on LinkedIn.

Go to Yahoo! or My Web Search and enter the person's name in the search box. In the first page of results, look for a connection to LinkedIn. This is a professional networking site where many people in business post resumes and references to aid in their job search. At this point, it will help to know the area of expertise or type of business that would apply to the person's employer for whom you are searching.
2Narrow your search on LinkedIn by clicking on the most likely individual who has the name you are searching for. Be aware, too, that the person's hobbies, club memberships or professional licenses may help you to identify him on LinkedIn.
Once you can see that the person you are looking for is on LinkedIn, you will need to sign in or establish your own LinkedIn profile in order to view hers.
3If you do not find the name of the person whose employer you are seeking on LinkedIn, scroll through the second and third pages of My Web Search to see if the name of his employer will be revealed in news stories or blogs indexed by Google. If not, go to CVgadget.com and type in the individual's name. Be sure you are spelling it exactly right. CVgadget will do a complete search of the Internet and tell you the number of times the name you entered comes up on any of the major sites such as My Space, Facebook or Google. If you look through these links you will very likely find the person's employer.
4If you have not been able to locate a person's employer through Yahoo!, Google, LinkedIn or CVgadget, go to Pipl and type in the first and last name and the last known city and state where the person resided. This will result in a deep search of the web which will bring up a great deal of personal information about the person whose employer you seek. To access all of the information on Pipl, you will likely have to pay another people search company such as Spokeo.
