How to End a Relationship With Excuses

Ending a relationship, even if it's the right thing to do, can be difficult and emotional. You want to make sure that you are as kind as possible. Hurting somebody is never fun, even if your decision is for the best. There are several ways to approach a breakup, but keep in mind that none of these ways is really easy.

Clearly explain why you need to move on. Give him a few concrete reasons so that he knows you've thought this decision through completely. Even if it's hard to hear, your boyfriend will want to know why you're leaving him instead of you leaving quietly, without any answers.

Remain honest.The conversation might take some time, especially if your boyfriend is questioning about why you want to break up.Try to keep it two just one or two specific reasons for why you want the breakup. You can add additional reasons for why you two aren't working out if he's pushing for more information.

Avoid pointing fingers. While you may have a serious problem with a lot of the things that your boyfriend does, making him feel worse than he already does at the moment won't help things. Instead, speak in terms of you or your relationship. For example, if the problem is that your boyfriend neglects you, you may not want to place blame solely on him. If you truly want to break up and don't want to work on your problems, you could say something like, "I've noticed that we're no longer nurturing our relationship." This way, you're both responsible for the problem.
