If you live with a drama queen the slamming of doors, welcoming of death, screaming of injustices and demands to be the center of attention are nothing new. New or not, extreme drama is hard to live with, almost impossible to take, and stressful in any household no matter the age of the drama queen.
One definition of a drama queen is a person given to excessively emotional performances or reactions, and the description is pretty much exact. To break what can fast become a way of life, the drama teen needs to be put in her place and very quickly. If your drama queen is a grown woman or man, you've got major problems and you might need more help than the following steps can give, but it's worth a try.

If your drama queen is a teen, give her some space, but put the brakes on to her dramatic reactions over simple incidents. If you allow this behavior to continue it will only escalate.
2In all honestly, drama queens use excessive emotional outbursts as a means to get attention. Refuse to react and refuse to give that attention. Very calmly send her to her room where she can't put on a performance for anyone but herself. And when she slams the bedroom door, don't respond.
3If your drama queen is not a teen, but your girlfriend, boyfriend or spouse, you are going to have to attempt using discussion. Be prepared for highly dramatic reactions but don't follow suit. Remain calm and if she won't calm down, leave. Upon your return she will most likely do the exact same thing. Leave again. If, on the third try, there is no improvement then explain to her you will not continue this redundant action and find a place to go. Don't return until she is willing to talk calmly.
4Sometimes overly dramatic people believe over reacting in emotional outbursts leads to romance and security. If you're into that kind of behavior, go for it, but if you don't want to live the rest of your life with continuous explosions you might want to hold out until the behavior improves.
5When drama queens explode they have a tendency to break things. If this happens in your household do not, under any circumstances, replace the items that are destroyed. This only excuses and encourages such behavior.
6If you live with an adult drama queen and decide you can't handle the tantrums anymore, be prepared for many weeks and possibly months of harassment. Change your phone number, don't let him know where you live and consider a restraining order if necessary.
