Sometimes, it feels like there is nothing harder than meeting someone who is compatible with you and who shares your goals and interests. When you are interested in starting a healthy relationship, you may feel a little lost. Finding a relationship that allows you to grow and thrive can be surprisingly straightforward. How are you going to get the relationship of your dreams, and what do you need to know about yourself in order to accomplish that?

Instructions

    1

Write down a list of your goals. Where do you want your life to go, and what do you want to do? These goals are important to you, and someone who is good for you should be interested in helping you fulfill them.

    2

Record what your priorities are in a relationship. Do you want a partner who is interested in starting a family? Do you want someone who wants to see the world? If you do not have an idea of what you are looking for, there is no telling what you are going to end up with.

    3

Figure out what your deal breakers are. What factors will make you break up with someone? These factors are different for everyone, so make sure that you know what yours are and that you write them down for the future.

    4

Ask your friends to play matchmaker. Often, your friends will not want to offend you by implying that you need help on the dating scene, but their input can be invaluable. You never know when they can connect you to a great relationship.

    5

Go online and put up your profile on a few different dating sites. Look for ones that have a fairly large membership and where most of the people have something in common with you.

    6

Set limits. When you are starting a relationship, make sure that the other person respects your limits. This means that he respects you and what you want. Anyone who does not is likely going to be a drain on yourself or on your resources.

    7

Introduce your date to your friends. Sometimes your friends will be able to asses a new relationship prospect better than you are able to do so. Ask them what they think and take their opinions seriously.

    8

Consult your lists of goals, priorities and deal breakers from time to time. As you grow as as person, your lists might change, so evaluate them on a regular basis to see if any changes need to be made.

    9

Be open to opportunities that come your way. Even if someone is not necessarily your type, why not see what one date can teach you? Being adventurous is a good way to have a healthy relationship.
