How to Deal With an Ex on Facebook

Facebook can make breakups much more awkward than they'd otherwise be because they are no longer as private. Once your relationship status goes from "in a relationship" to "single" on Facebook, you'll likely be bombarded with requests for information, and the friends of both parties will now be aware that you're going through a breakup. Dealing with an ex on Facebook can also be problematic as you both start dating again, and maturity is needed to make the transition as simple as possible.

Instructions

Click on the "X" next to your ex's posts in your news feed and select "Block all posts" to prevent your ex's posts from showing up on your homepage. This will prevent you with being inundated with updates on your ex's life even if you wish to remain Facebook friends with him.

Reduce your Facebook usage following the breakup to help prevent the urge to check your ex's page or to see posts from people you and your ex both know that involve your ex. Spend more time offline with friends who may not know your ex or not know her outside of her relationship with you.

Delete your ex from your friend's list entirely along with any friends of your ex who also have access to your profile. This will help you make a cleaner break and you can utilize Facebook without the concern of seeing things about your ex.
