How to tell your boyfriend you want to be left alone

You love your boyfriend but you hate having him around all day every day. Your relationship is to the point where it feels like you two are joined at the hip. It takes a gentle manner and delicate touch to tell your boyfriend you want to be left alone, but it is something you need to do before you resent him for living or go insane. Heres how.

Sit down with your boyfriend and tell him how much you love his company. Its great when we went to the opera, the rodeo and the junkyard. Youre such a fun person to be with.

Honestly relate how you need time to yourself, too. Even though you are so much fun, sometimes I need to be by myself.

Dont feel obligated to answer when he asks why you need time alone, but do reply if you wish. My head needs time to rest. I need time to myself to catch up with old friends, paint a mural and write a novel. Besides, my dog is getting jealous because I never pay him any mind.

Quell his hurt reaction with a hug and soothing words. Its not like Im leaving the country. I just want to be alone Thursday night. We can do something together this weekend.

Dump him if he still acts like a jerk about it, comes to your house anyway when you specifically told him youd like time alone or hires a private detective to spy on you to make sure youre really alone and not out dating.
